Division 1 meeting minutes, November 22, 2019 Supt. McMullian called the meeting to order at 7:04 pm. 33 members were in attendance.
Business Meeting

1. Visitors / New Members: Supt. McMullian asked if there were any visitors or new members present. Supt. McMullian reminded members to sign in and get a blue ticket for the raffle prizes.

2. Christmas Part Reminder: Supt. McMullian reminded members about the upcoming Christmas party to be held on Friday, December 13, 2019 at the Radisson Hotel on the U of T Medical campus. See Richard at the break to sign up for the party. If you attend the Christmas part remember to bring a gift valued at $20.00 to be auctioned off during the party. Also, please bring a Christmas baked item to share.

3. North Central Crossing Convention Update: Supt. McMullian asked how many members attended the regional convention in Troy, MI. 13 members attended and had fun visiting layouts, attending clinics, and catching up with old friends. While talking with other attendees, many of them were excited about coming to our upcoming convention here in Toledo. Marshall Stull mentioned that there are fliers in the back of the room. Please pick some up and pass them out to friends and at train shows. Paul Marsden showed the members present the website for the convention. Everyone was very impressed with it.

4. January & February Meetings: Supt. McMullian mentioned that the January & February 2020 meeting will be held on the scheduled Friday nights. Due to basketball games in the gym, we will not be able to try some Saturday morning meetings.

5. January meeting clinic: Marshall Stull mentioned that he will be conducting a clinic at the January 24, 2020 meeting. Marshall has learned a process to make deciduous trees and he will be sharing that knowledge with the members.

6. NCR News: Supt. McMullian mentioned that Paul Marsden is now the North Central Region web master & registrar. Brian Burr asked if the region has thought about doing the regional magazine as a e-blast as opposed to a printed issue.

Supt. McMullian mentioned that the next NCR one-day event will be in Kalamazoo, MI on April 25, 2020.

Business Meeting adjourned at 7:40 P.M. Marshall Stull mentioned the RIP Track items and Chuck Goliski's books are available for $10.00 each which is way below the Amazon price.

Show & Tell (lemonade from lemons):

1. Supt. McMullian presented a slide show on the progress of his ship construction. Very impressive progress Dave.

2. Steve Glass showed us a hopper car that he weathered using spackling putty to simulate cement. He also showed is a unique process to weather wood to make it look weathered using steel wool and vinegar. The process involves soaking the wood in a container contains the vinegar and steel wool. The longer you keep the wood in the mixture the darker it gets.

3. Steve Kellogg showed us some slides of some Southern Pacific EMD locomotives.

4. Jim Treadway showed us a completed wood kit of the North Western Supply Building that he constructed. Very nice detail work Jim.

5. Jeff Schumaker showed is some Bowser hopper kits that he built.

Clinics:

Our November meeting featured a special guest: Charles Geletzky.
Mr. Geletzky who has worked for the railroad for many years talked about his life working for the railroad, and shared some antidotes about day to day life along with observations of rolling stock. Mr. Geletzky gave us a great presentation and was a great speaker. He also had several of his books for sale at the meeting.
